Wow! 2017 has been an exciting and busy year for the Friends of Sligo Creek.

In only six months, we have hosted three evening talks, four outdoor walks (including our first one entirely in Spanish), four water-quality workshops, a native meadow planting, an invasive plant removal (in addition to countless pulls scheduled with private groups), our spring Sweep the Creek, and the 2nd annual Bike Ride for Clean Water! Our very own Jim Anderson, longtime FoSC volunteer and board member, just won the 2017 Montgomery Parks Volunteer Excellence Award!

What is even more amazing is that we did all of this with a volunteer team. From our board to the dozens of helpers who come out every spring and fall to Sweep the Creek, FoSC is comprised of neighbors just like you who are concerned about their local watershed and want to make a difference for the environment. Please visit our website to learn more: www.fosc.org.

We need you! There are lots of ways you can connect, engage with, and support the Friends of Sligo Creek and our park. We can always use a new helping hand. Do you like to write or do graphic design in your free time? Have a desire to teach others about Sligo Creek? Interested in helping us create our new website? If you have a specific talent that you'd like to share with FoSC, please let me know; I would love to hear from you!

We also couldn't do what we do without your financial support. We pay for our beautiful and inspirational park kiosks, purchase weed pulling and water quality testing equipment, and fund our informative newsletter -- and are working on a brand new website -- all with donated funds. FoSC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, so your donation is tax deductible and will be invested right back into where you live -- the Sligo Creek watershed. Please visit our website and donate today: donate

As a special thank you, from now until the end of 2017, if you donate $100 or more, a FoSC Board member will present a one-of-a-kind FoSC mug to you at one of our upcoming programs (the mugs are usually only reserved for our program speakers; make a difference and get one today)!

Thank you and enjoy summer in our park,

Corinne Stephens (FoSC President)
